A cylindrical roller thrust bearing is a particular type of roller bearing. Like other roller bearings, they permit rotation between parts, but they are designed to support a high axial load while doing this (parallel to the shaft). Higher speed applications require oil lubrication. Generally, they are composed of two washers (raceways) and the [cylindrical roller bearings] which are typically caged. As opposed to roller thrust bearings, ball thrust bearings can generally operate at higher speeds but at lower loads.
Some important factors when selecting a cylindrical roller thrust bearings from SRG
•Thrust bearings must be kept in matched sets.
•The bore (d dimensions) of one washer (smaller) in the set will conform to the specifications.
•The bore (d dimension) of the mating washer will be ~ .007” larger because it is a clearance hole for the shaft.
SRG's cylindrical roller thrust bearings currently start with bore sizes from 45 mm and go up to 360 mm with outer diameters from 64 mm to 440 mm. Let us know if you need sizes outside these dimensions.
Construction of this roller bearing type is the simplest of all radial roller bearings. This bearing type is often used in high-speed applications. Because the inner ring, outer ring, and rollers are in line contact, this bearing type has a large radial load capacity. Various Cylindrical roller bearing configurations are:
N,NJ,NF,NU,RNU: integral ribs (flanges)
NH,NP;NUP;NUH: integral and loose ribs
NN,NNU: double-row bearings
Configurations having integral flanges or loose ribs on both the inner and outer rings can sustain a asmall amount of axial load. Since this ina bearing type supports axial loads as sliding action between the end of the rollers and flange faces, axial loading is Limited. Double-row Cylindrical roller bearings are used for high-speed, high-accuracy applications such as; main spindle support for lathes, milling machines, machining centers.
